Donna Joleen Sonneborn, 90, of Hettick, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville, IL.
Donna was born March 7, 1933, in Hettick, IL, a daughter of Leroy and Ola Lucille (Clevenger) Tate.
Donna graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1951.
She married William "Bill" Sonneborn on April 11, 1952, in Hettick, IL.
Donna was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. She also provided guidance and kindness to her many employees over the years. She took pride in running Sonneborn Bros Trucking with her husband and family for over 60 years. She enjoyed being behind the scenes in her work and community but was always happy to give back and help in any way. She was highly knowledgeable about history, especially Macoupin County. She enjoyed reminiscing about her time as a bookkeeper in the state of Washington while her husband served in the military and then at several local businesses when they returned to the area.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Paul "Bill" Sonneborn August 28, 2016, and son-in-law, Randy Starkey.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Cross Church, 1030 West Main, Carlinville, IL.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Monday, January 8, 2024, at Cross Church, Carlinville, IL, with Tanya Kessinger officiating.
Burial will follow in Hettick Cemetery, Hettick, IL.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Ron) Dugan of Hettick, IL, daughter, Janna (Larry) Tetzlaff of Hettick, IL, sister, Joyce Cooksey of Hettick, IL, sister, Patricia (Lloyd "Buck") Clark of Hettick, IL, grandchildren; Mike (Beth) Dugan, Jeff (Abir) Dugan, Courtney (Gary) Dugger, Kelsey (Dalton) Sanson, great-grandchildren; Jacob Reese, Makenah Dugan, Reed Dugger, Dash and Kypp Sanson, Letty and Ida Dugan, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hettick Cemetery or Hettick Community Club.
