Obituary of Edwin Eugene Love

Edwin Eugene Love, 77, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Cedarhurst in Jacksonville, IL. Edwin was born February 10, 1946, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Clarence and Ruby Weller Love. He served in the US Army. He married Carol Bloome on March 25, 1995, in Franklin, IL. Ed was employed by the State of Illinois at the Jacksonville Developmental Center as a boiler operator. He loved to garden, but he hated to pull weeds. Instead, he would mow it off with Ron's mower. Fishing went better for him, even though Carol would get mad because he was gone too long. He may be fishing in heaven with his grandson Zach right now! Carol and Ed's greatest love was camping. They traveled all over the US with their camper. His favorite yard buddy was his grand-dog Yukon, who he called Ralph. He only answered to "Ralph" for Grandpa. Since moving to Cedarhurst, he became a very avid Bingo player and ate too much ice cream at their "Sundae Sundays." A special thank you to all the staff at Cedarhurst in Jacksonville for all their love and support. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Zachary Sing, and brother, Alfred Love. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 9:00-11:00 am at Davis Anderson, Carlinville, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am at Davis Anderson, Carlinville, with Fr. Joe Koyickal presiding. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville, IL. Ed is survived by his wife, Carol Love of Jacksonville, IL, daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Sing of Channahon, IL, daughter, Nicole (James) Rohr of Minooka, IL, son, Ron (Lindsey) Gill of Franklin, IL, son, Jeff (Lynn) Gill of Carterville, IL, grandchildren; Alexander Sing, Jayden and Brendan Rohr, Jordan (Jacob) Lindgren, Justin Gill, Faith and Emma Greathouse, Brandon and Nathan Gill, great-granddaughter, Ruby Lindgren, brother, Ronald (Ruthann) Love of Waverly, and sister, Alice (Michael) Wilson of Chatham. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements.
