Edward E Ray, 59 of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at his residence in Carlinville, IL. Ed was born on September 22, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, IA, a son of Edward and Carolyn (Henecke) Ray. Ed graduated from Southeast High School, in Springfield, IL with the class of 1982.
Ed was a union ironworker for Iron Workers Local 46 in Springfield, IL. He worked there for 38 years, retiring in 2021. He was also a Structural ironwork instructor for almost 30 years.
Ed loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was a member of the Iron Sleds Motorcycle Club in Nilwood, IL, for 24 years and a member of Black Diamond A.B.A.T.E. He was also a member of the Lake Press Club in Springfield and the Moose Lodge in Carlinville. Ed enjoyed being outdoors and was often found boating, hunting, shooting, fishing or hiking. Most of all Ed loved being with his family.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elizabeth Mellinger, uncle, Harry Hardman, nephew, Craig Nabb, and niece, Gracy Ray.
Ed is survived by his significant other, Deana Jones, son, Eddie (Nikki) Ray of Carlinville, IL, son, Cole Ray of Carlinville, IL, Deana's son, Michael Jones of Columbus, OH, Deana's daughter, Izzy McCarthy of Carlinville, IL, granddaughters; Bailey Ray, and Emma Ray, brother, Timmothy (Wendy) Ray of Springfield, IL, aunt, Cathy Hardman of Cedar Rapids, IA, uncle, Chuck Henecke of Cedar Rapids, IA, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL.
Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11am, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Iron Sleds Clubhouse, Nilwood, IL.
