Obituary of Doris Marie Pruitt

Doris Marie (Bowker) Pruitt, age 89, the thirteenth child born to the late Truman and Ruby (Owens) Bowker of Medora, IL, passed away on November 9, 2024.
On October 25, 1952, she married the late Virgil "Buzz" Pruitt in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He passed away June 12, 2011. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Pruitt and a grand-daughter "Niki" Pruitt. Also preceding her in death were eight brothers, James, Walter, Elmer, Milford, Lloyd, Claude, Gene and William Bowker. Four sisters, Viola Krichner, Ida Coleman, Lela Harding, and Anna Bowker also preceded her.
Doris is the last of 13 siblings to go and be with loved ones again, up yonder. What a day that will be!!!
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Medora, IL.
Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Medora, IL.
Survivors are four sons, Greg Pruitt of MO, Don Pruitt of Greenfield, IL, Steve Pruitt of Benld, IL, Dan (Beth) Pruitt of Carlinville, IL, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
During her childhood Doris was busy visiting relatives and many states. Her favorite trip was to our nation's capital in Washington, and it's surrounding area. On that journey, she visited the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier", an event she would never forget. It really touched her heart. Doris had "6" brothers serving our country at one time, and 6 "Stars" were displayed in the window of their home in Medora, representing them.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association.
