Norman R. Paul
93, of Carlinville, passed away Sunday morning, July 31, 2011 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
Norman was born on April 12, 1918 in Carlinville, the son of Frank and Frieda (Ring) Paul. He married Delphine "Del" (Selvo) Paul in Carlinville, on June 8, 1946.
Norman has been in the theatre business since the age of two. He spent his lifetime in the entertainment business in Carlinville and the surrounding areas. Norman and his wife Del provided entertainment in the area, owning and operating the Marvel Theatre, Diane Drive Inn and Bowlero Bowling Lanes all in Carlinville. They also owned the Sky View Drive Inn in Litchfield, and the Orpheum Theatre in Hillsboro. Norman loved to pop popcorn for the movie patrons and towns people walking or driving by. Norman had a great love for animals, especially dogs. He would go out of his way to be sure homeless pets were taken care of by taking them in or finding other loving homes for them. Norman served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was a member of the Guy Baird American Legion Post #554 as well as the Calinville Elks Lodge #1412.
Norman is survived by his wife, Del Paul of Carlinville and two daughters, Diane Brunton (Byrle) and Denise Ambrose (Tom) both of Carlinville. Funeral Information
,Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, August 4, at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville with prayer service recited at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 5, at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Angel Sierra, Celebrant and Rev. Dean Probst and Rev. George Morelock assisting.
Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville with military rites provided by the Guy Baird American Legion Post. Donations Information
